Can’t take too long writing this, but today’s pretty important for my department at work. The new software goes into the first beta site next week (on a combination of machines and peripherals it has never, ever, been tested on, natch), and it falls to me and my partner to train the onsite technicians and the users.
Since the software is not (quite) done, there is of course no documentation (that department is still writing it), and I’ve had to create the technical manual. Users guides will theoretically be beta-ready by next week, but the technical guide isn’t slotted for official completion until… gah, I don’t know… December? Also, that non-existent documentation is what we’re supposed to be using to develop the class.
Anyway, today is the day I train the techs, with the books I made, using the Powerpoint illustrations I pulled together. Oh, and it’s the first week under my new boss (my old boss’ office was 7 states away and was technically part of a DIFFERENT company whose budget we were NEVER on… it was somewhat chaotic). It’s really a trial-by-fire to see how well we can handle this terrible situation.
So does all this mean I’m nervous? Hell no, I rock at this stuff. Walk in the park, baby.
It just means I can’t take too long writing this.
