On a side note (stemming from the “Why do we blog” comment thread), I think I know why I’m more likely to write 500 pages of journal than a 500 page novel — instant feedback. I think about stories to write, and then I think “but it’s so LONG before anyone can SEE it.”

I produce popcorn prose: it is munched on and shared with others, who in turn share it with others until the floor of theatre is littered with it, when it’s finally swept away to be replaced by the next batch.
